Catherine Schmidt

Dr. Schmidt is the Managing Partner of Bay State Physical Therapy at the Kingsbury Club & Spa in Kingston, MA.  She brings over 13 years of experience in the treatment of sports related injuries; shoulder pathology; strength and conditioning; and manual techniques for treatment of neck and back pain. Her training also includes rehabilitation in the aquatic environment for individuals with chronic pain, osteoarthritis, and recent surgery. Cathy received her Bachelor's degree from Quinnipiac College; Advanced Master in Physical Therapy and Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Massachusetts General Hospital's Institute of Health Professions.  

Cathy has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Orthopedic Section for over 10 years.  She also enjoys working as a teaching assistant for MGH's entry level Physical Therapy Program.

Elizabeth Sims

Elizabeth graduated from MGH Institute of Health Professions with a Doctorate of Physical therapy and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of RI with a Bachelor’s degree in Health/Fitness in 2004.  Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Elizabeth worked as a gymnastics coach and a personal trainer, and had the opportunity to personal train in the UK while studying abroad as an undergraduate.  She specializes in strength and conditioning, neuro-facilitative techniques, and fall risk prevention. She is also experienced in the rehabilitation of various neurological disorders including stroke and traumatic brain injury, and is a member of the Neurology section of the American Physical Therapy Association.  Elizabeth is dedicated to improving function in both orthopedic and neurological populations through a combination of hands on treatment and therapeutic exercise.

Katie received her Bachelor of Science with specialization in Athletic Training from Bridgewater State College.  She graduated from Bay State College in Boston with Honors receiving her Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) degree.  Prior to PTA school Katie was employed as a Physical Therapy Aide for over 13 years in outpatient orthopedics.  Her specialty includes aquatic therapy, sports-related injuries, and post surgical rehab.  Katie combines manual therapy with an emphasis on exercise and functional strengthening in order to meet each of her patient’s individual goals.
